High-performance distributed computing for calculation processes and ATR invoices

GRID ATR aimed to develop a pilot to test the feasibility of managing very high volumes of load curves, in accordance with the requirements arising from the operating procedures published by operators in the national electricity market. This would facilitate the Ministry of Industry’s strategy of shifting energy consumption from peak to off-peak hours.

The final outcome was to have a set of tools that, through their integration into the commercial systems of electricity companies, would ease the design of energy products based on hourly prices and not on periods (night / day / holiday), allowing companies to take advantage of the timeslots in which the price of energy is cheaper.

Main activities

The project target was addressed by the CIC research team by carrying out the following activities:

  • Design and implementation of the database model for the high voltage circuit.
  • Design and implementation of business processes of the high voltage circuit.
  • Deployment in the development environment for distributed processes
  • Functional testing of high voltage circuit modules.
  • Performance tests of the distributed high-voltage circuit in a general-purpose network.
  • Performance testing of high and low voltage circuits distributed in a general-purpose network.
  • High-performance grid installation of distributed low and high voltage circuits.
  • Performance testing of high and low voltage circuits distributed in a high-performance grid.

Partners

The project counted on the collaboration of the Institute of Physics of Cantabria, Joint Center Higher Council for Scientific Research – University of Cantabria.

Funding

This project received funding from the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), R&D&i Projects, 2008.
