Integrated Management System for the Prevention and Extinction of Forest Fires and the Subsequent Reforestation<\/strong><\/strong>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

OBJECTIVE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the project is to increase knowledge in forest environments by using intelligence, real time threat assessment and context to support the decision making process in cases of forest fires and subsequent reforestation. Advanced simulation models, data-fusion methods and AI will all be used to calculate the threat levels faced by forest areas in real time, allowing for a holistic, real-time fire management framework. The results will be shown using augmented visualization technologies in the Command and Control Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GAIA\u202f focuses on different technological development areas to effectively address the challenges of forest fires. These include prevention, support to firefighting operations and reforestation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CIC\u00b4S ROLE<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

CIC’s role will be to research and come up with solutions to improve and automate fire prevention processes, fire extinction and reforestation tasks, all based on advanced LIDAR data processing, satellite imaging and advanced real-time analytical techniques.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To reach this objective, the following specific technical aspects must be taken into consideration:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • LIDAR based research tools for data on mapping systems and fuel models to predict fire behavior.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • AI analytical research based system for the creation of a recommendation engine applied to fire prevention.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Implementation and validation of a controlled demonstration environment that integrates the developed tools and algorithms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n

    PROJECT PARTNERS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The GAIA consortium is made up of 6 companies that constitute the business grouping (CDTI). Two research centers and 2 universities complete the research organization\u00b4s cluster (AEI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
